Why Sustainable Leadership?

There is an urgent need for healthcare to transform into a sustainable organisation, and sustainable leadership is the only means to fulfil it. Sustainable leadership in healthcare refers to healthcare processes, services and overall functioning that promote environmental, economic, and social balance.

In the CAVE Approach© perspective presented in our program, sustainable leadership refers to your ability to make choices that sustain your individual wellbeing, the advance of healthcare organisation, the prosperity of society and the protection of the environment.

Why Aristotle in Sustainable Leadership?

Aristotle's Ethical Theory, as articulated in his Nicomachean Ethics, is a theory for living a good life. Yet, it is more than that.

The CAVE Approach© reveals its potential to become the cornerstone of sustainable development today, proposing it as the ultimate sustainable leadership model and practice; Relying on contemporary cross-disciplinary scientific research, and learning and development methods, the CAVE (Classical Aristotelian Virtues of Ethics|) Approach© uses the Aristotelian Ethical Theory as a unique universal and timeless, systemic methodology for the development of sustainable leaders, and a hands-on practice of sustainable leadership for all.

Why Sustainable Leadership in Healthcare?

Sustainable leadership is the new modus operandi in every aspect of human activity because it is required to meet the urgent need for sustainable development and sustainable results on individual, organisational, social and global level. However, its application in healthcare is of vital importance because healthcare directly promotes and protects the ultimate goal of human development, namely people’s wellbeing. Healthcare professionals need to acquire a systemic perspective that will help them to focus not only on clinical outcomes but also on the overall well-being and flourishing of patients.

This holistic approach is particularly crucial in healthcare leadership, where often if not always the delivery of care and the enhancement of patient outcomes rely on the dynamic interaction of various parameters. Furthermore, our Aristotelian model of sustainable leadership provides a strong foundation for healthcare professionals to navigate complex ethical dilemmas, foster a culture of empathy and integrity, and ultimately promote the well-being and flourishing of both healthcare professionals and the patients they serve.
